Both innovation and respect for the past are important to keeping a craft tradition alive. Up-and-coming Taxco artist Mikelo combines the two here with a sleek fine silver ring. The techniques used to craft it are generations-old, but the design — a high-polish orb which dangles from the band — is quite modern. The ring is signed by the artisan.
